The Spicy Triple Chocolate Sandwich

I haven’t made a post in a while and I apologize, I have been rather busy with school and work. Today I was pretty bored and decided to make a sandwich out of stuff I had laying around, it turned out to be rather good. I unfortunately did not have much to make a sandwich with, so I kept it simple, very simple. This particular sandwich only has two (tasty) ingredients.

The Fancy Ice Cream “Double Down”

Of all of the sandwiches I’ve made so far I think this one is my best. For those of you unaware KFC has a sandwich called the “Double Down“. Instead of using bread for buns KFC chose two chicken patties, in the middle you get special sauce, two slices of cheese, and bacon. Before the Double Down came into existence it was something people would joke about being able to get at a fast food place, now you can. I have yet to have one but the idea is pure genius.

The idea was so good that it made me want to adapt it to a fancy ice cream sandwich, so I did. My idea was to have two slabs of ice cream with some ingredients in the middle, but I wasn’t sure how to do it. I needed a way to get the ice cream in nice retangles. Multiple people told me to just cut the ice cream container into sections to get the pieces I wanted, the problem is I can only find Ben & Jerry’s in pints. So what did I do? I used Ziploc bags!

Home Baked Fancy Sandwich

So my girlfriend is an avid reader of Smitten Kitchen, which is a wonderfully fancy food blog. If you’re like me (which you probably are if you’re reading this), you’ll probably enjoy Smitten Kitchen, it’s fantastic. The reason I mention this is because my girlfriend sent me a link to a recipe a few weeks back, and it was one that I just had to make. The recipe was for homemade pop tarts.  Today I had some free time, and money wasn’t too tight, so I went out and bought all the supplies.

First I started with the dough Continue reading

Guest Post: Career Purgatory Fancy Chicken Sandwich

This guest post comes from the guys over at Career Purgatory. In case you haven’t been paying any attention this is also the first non-ice cream sandwich to be posted here. Enjoy the guest post below:

This is the type of gourmet sandwich you are capable of making if you have a struggling career and a healthy appetite to drown your sorrows.

To start off I’ve selected a loaf of Rosemary Olive Oil bread that you can find at any Costco and sliced it in half as shown below.

Everything is ported

As you can probably tell I just ported everything to WordPress. All the old posts are below. Honestly I am not very pleased with this platform, I will hopefully be switching to my own custom blogging platform very soon. I will make a legit post that has a Fancy Sandwich very soon. Sorry for the delay on posts, I’ve been busy with learning new languages, working, and with school stuff.

Last weekend I flew all the way from Michigan to California for Coachella (which was awesome). The night before Coachella my wonderful hosts decided they wanted a Fancy Sandwich. We walked to the closest Whole Foods and purchased some ingredients. This time around we decided to change it up a bit, but not too much. You’ll see some familiar items but some new delicious ingredients as well.

New Logo Unveiled

Originally posted Apr 4, 2010

Say hello to the new logo! This was 100% thought up and designed by Luke Solt. This will be the new mascot for now. I may introduce more characters later based on the types of sandwiches we regularly see. I have not yet thought of a name, feel free to leave your suggested names on the Facebook page or send them to me over Twitter! I hope you all enjoy this logo as much as I do.

Waffle Americone Dream Fancy Sandwich

Originally posted Apr 4, 2010

So last night I was writing a philosophy paper, and I got pretty bored, and rather hungry. I had also not made a post in quite some time. On top of all of this my good friend Luke made me a logo for the site, so I decided to reward him with a fancy sandwich. So I called Luke up and told him to bring over some of his favorite ice cream and I’d take care of the rest.

Since not many of you know Luke I’m going to let you in on a little secret: he freakin’ loves waffles. He has, for the past few years, woken up every day and ate some sort of waffles. Every single day. If you told him that he could only eat one meal the rest of his life there is a good chance that he would choose waffles.

It just so happens that I had a waffle maker laying around, and all the ingredients in my house to make some chocolate chip waffles. So while Luke was out getting his ice cream I started to gather everything to create the waffles, when he showed up fancy sandwich time had begun:
